Belinda Marshall

After many volunteer trips over to Cambodia I took the leap of faith and created my own NGO in 2018. I sourced my first school development project later that year, which soon became the early foundations for BFO.

Since then I have built another 2 schools and trained over 12 local teachers. Today my past and current school projects see over 600 students educated in english.

I believe that my background as a teacher in Australia has given me the skill set to develop strong English education for rural Cambodian villages. However my passion to see children live a life away from poverty is the true driving force. behind my work.

Aimee joined our team in 2020 to lead our community projects.

With a Degree in Psychology, Aimee spent the early days of her career working in Child Protection. She then branched out into one of Australia’s leading, not-for-profit community service organisation to pursue a career in Youth Work. Her passion revolves around working with those that may come from vulnerable and marginalised backgrounds, supporting them to achieve a more safe, connected and empowered life.

Aimee most enjoys  spending time with our sponsor families, and focusing on ways to implement and enhance programs to support the wellbeing of our village communities.

BFO teachers currently under training

Each of our wonderful young teachers are apart of our scholarship program. During the morning they attend the University of South East Asia to study for their Bachelor of Education degree. In the afternoon they head out to our school projects to teach our students. We aspire to bridge the gap between high school education and higher education for youth that come from poverty stricken backgrounds.  We believe our program does just that by supporting our teachers through University.
